Why should we buy art?
Another good reason to buy quality artwork is that it’ll help you improve your quality of life.
Studies have shown, everybody has a reason for buying art. Generally, however, people buy art because they love it and can relate pretty well to it. By surrounding yourself with the things you like, you’ll certainly improve your wellbeing as well as the quality of life which included the quality of life of friends and relative around you.
Some buy art as a gift
Some time back while vising a museum, I heard someone say. “I wish I could afford that
painting”. Today more people or I should say that the percentage of people that appreciate artwork is increasing every day. More people are seeing reasons why owning a piece of art is essential to them. They get inspired by having quality artwork. Apart from that, people now understand that they can not only improve their home’s beauty but inspire other to do the same.
However, not everyone can afford to buy an original piece of art, because as they are usually expensive and beyond ones budget. In that case, by buying it a gift, you as the buyer are telling these special people that their lives matter because it’s something you connect with deeply… Yes, it’s something you love, but it something they deserve. And what is better than that? The art as a gift is the best way for all to celebrate.
So, in essences, I as the receiver of an art gift would most appreciatively.
Additionally other studies
Art helps to reduce the rate of anxiety, depression, and stress in people. Same study show an indirect benefit: By reducing depression and anxiety one live longer because of a better life.
One person said, “I now have a mini gallery after buying several original artworks, and you, you know what? I can always visit the gallery any time I want…especially when I feel there’s a need to eliminate stress.”
.
Yes, Good quality art does inspire lives, stimulate passion, and improves human activity. It provides us with the strength to carry on and do the impossible.
Some buy art for investment purpose
Quality artwork are specific alternative assets that you can consider investing your money on. As an investor, you understand that artwork can serve different type of investment that might serve other differed purposes for you. For instance, you can see art as one type of portfolio that diversifies. This means you should only be allocating a certain percentage of your money to art. Diversification will certainly help you reduce the risk if the other investment fails.
At one time my finance Professor said, “Ones wealth should be divided in five classes. Real estate, stock a bonds, savings, cash, and art or collectibles.”
Apart from seeing art as a portfolio versifier, you can also see it as a way of preserving your wealth.
Unlike bonds and stocks there a certain amount of risk, and it varies daily. Generally, art does not lose value. Instead, the value will appreciate over time, meaning that you’ll achieve an increase in the value of your money.
So, the nuts and bolts is that buying original artwork at the right price means you’re investing your money wisely. Over time, you can always resell art for real money and achieve large profit.
As I mention earlier, art is great for improving your home’s aesthetic appeal. In addition to that, another benefit of buying is that it creates a good feeling and leaves an ever-lasting impression on the viewer.
Perhaps the art purchased, is not a Rembrandt, or Picasso… hold everything, the cheapest Picasso sold for $118,000 to the most expensive $140,000,000…. but if you find a good quality piece of art for $200 to $500. (What do you think it could be worth in 5 years.)
Especially after your quest just said, “I would love to have hanging in my Home.”
Original art from a good artist could be precede and give your quest the impression and wondering how you could you afford to purchase such an expensive gift… when you knew exactly what you want and found the perfect piece. Additionally, it will also provide them with a better insight as to who you are and what you value.
The point is: without saying anything, artwork can quickly express who you are in a language that everyone understands.
Some people buy art to promote the artist
Every time a person buys a piece of art, they buy a piece of creative spirit penetrate in the work itself. This is indeed a treasure to some people, who find that art go emotionally with them.
As an artist, you see his or her persistence, patience, the passion from their heart, soul and vision are poured into each piece they create. Every time they think they have mastered the piece; they go back to review. Did they miss anything. Is there anything else I need to compete the art. When you buy that piece of art, you see their art, as the finish theme and this comes through.
Credibility
Today in our modern world everything is made as expendable.
Many things are, insignificant, and soulless.
But art has meaning, it takes thought, time and talent. It more than just a line, more than form or shape. Consider the space, texture and color in which the picture lives. Art collectors go one step more consider other kinds of value, such as aesthetic, moralistic, cognitive, and political value.
In essence the work of the artist determines their value buy their sales history and the demand for the product . If the artist signs the piece or leaves fingerprints bearing the name as the maker of the art… They are pledging skill and offers an experience of authenticity and quality on that piece.
Hopefully, It has the power grasp the viewer … lift them up or bring them to tears.
In summary Art enhances our lives, improves our well-being. improve passion, our drive and then launches us to a new area of creativity.
And if It good, it will be the cause for a conversation, or change the entire theme and reset the mood in a room environment.
Yes we know about the intrinsic or inherent value, social value, and commercial or market value and that may be all that some folks want but, to me, show me something new that was just created, and I will be blessed,
Finally
It is true that the vast majority of people don’t buy original art. Nor do they buy handmade goods, and they probably would admit…. they don’t even know any art collectors.
Most people are Walmart, and Costco people. That is, if these stores don’t have it, they don’t need it. But what happens when an art fair comes to the city on a bright summer day… they are all for it.
The trouble for the artist is it does not happen often enough.
After purchasing the special piece of art knowing it satisfied your artistic need…. you can be assured that this sets you the buyer apart from the rest. As patrons, you indeed enjoy the prestige of being called a collector.
